Henry County Clerk
The official Henry County Clerk site names Shanda Archer as County Clerk. Her office is a county records office, not the trial-court case-record office. The Clerk homepage and about page state that the office handles motor vehicle licensing, lien recordings, marriage licenses, notary bonds, deeds, mortgages, wills, delinquent property taxes, the delinquent tax sale, voter registration, and elections. The Kentucky.gov agency profile described in the research file also identifies vehicle registrations and titling, motor-vehicle tax collection, insurance verification, and real-estate legal recordings as County Clerk functions.
Shanda Archer began with the clerk's office in 1997 as a deputy clerk and was elected County Clerk in November 2014. The research file also lists County Clerk staff handling front-line service, bookkeeping, reports, voter registration, county elections, deed room work, vehicle liens, recording, and delinquent tax sale work. That staff structure reflects the office's mix of land, licensing, recording, election, vehicle, and tax functions.

Henry County Clerk Duties
The County Clerk page should not be used as a substitute for a Henry County court-record request. Divorce, child-support, criminal, traffic, civil, probate case files, and other court documents go through the Circuit Court Clerk when the record is a trial-court file. The County Clerk office is still central for many records that often connect to legal or family-history questions, especially marriage licenses, deeds, mortgages, liens, wills accepted for recording, and notary bonds.
- Marriage licenses and marriage-license copy requests.
- Land records including deeds, mortgages, leases, liens, plats, powers of attorney, and real-estate recordings.
- Wills recorded with the County Clerk, including will, renunciation of will, and disclaimer of will recordings.
- Vehicle registrations, titling, motor-vehicle tax collection, and insurance verification.
- Voter registration, elections, delinquent property taxes, and delinquent tax sale work.
Marriage Land Will Records
Marriage licenses in Kentucky are issued by county clerks, and in Henry County that means Shanda Archer's office. The research file identifies an online marriage-license application maintained by the Henry County Clerk. It also states that the County Clerk copy request form can be used for a marriage-license copy. Required marriage fields include bride name, groom name, date, and certified-copy selection. Divorce records are different because divorce is a Circuit or Family Court matter and not a County Clerk marriage-license record.
Land records are searched through the County Clerk's deed and recording systems. The Clerk records page states that the office does not prepare documents and recommends calling an attorney. It also discourages relying on online legal-document websites because documents from those sites rarely meet recording requirements. The office recommends the Henry County Historical Society for genealogy questions and states that it does not do genealogy searches.
Recorded wills also sit on the county-recording side, but probate cases do not. District Court handles probate of wills, and Circuit Court handles contested probate matters. The County Clerk fee schedule lists Will, Renunciation of Will, and Disclaimer of Will as recordable documents. A recorded will document may be requested from the County Clerk, while probate petitions, orders, inventories, and estate case activity are requested through the Circuit Court Clerk's District Court route.
Henry County eCCLIX Search
The Henry County Clerk land-record search page routes users to eCCLIX. The commercial version is for businesses and individuals in the business of researching documents, includes a subscription fee, and can add other counties to the searchable area. The private-citizen version is for Henry County residents searching for personal reasons with no commercial gain. Private citizens may only search Henry County records, are limited to five searches per day, and pay no charge for that service.
The research file says eCCLIX is available almost 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Sign-up may be submitted by mail with check or money order. For faster access, the sign-up form can be printed and faxed to 1-502-266-9447 or emailed to sales@smllc.us. An electronic invoice is then sent for credit-card payment by Mastercard, Visa, American Express, or Discover.

County Clerk Copy Requests
The Henry County Clerk online copy request form is for a specific recorded document or marriage-license copy. The form states that the Clerk cannot perform title searches or research for customers, and requests for title searches will be returned. It also states that the County Clerk does not handle court documents such as divorce or child support and directs those requests to the District or Circuit Clerk at 502-845-2868. Documents are not sent until payment is received.
Payment can be cash, check, certified check, business check, or money order payable to Henry County Clerk. The online form also includes Cash, Check, and Credit Card as payment selections and states the office will call for card information. Delivery choices are mail, email, or pickup. Requesters should provide enough document detail to avoid a research request, especially book and page number if known, parties involved, date of recording, document control number, address, and document type.
Certified County Copy Steps
Certified County Clerk copies are available for qualifying county records such as marriage-license copies or recorded documents. A certified county-record copy is not the same as a certified court order. For divorce decrees, child-support orders, criminal judgments, traffic dispositions, probate case orders, or other court documents, use the Circuit Court Clerk instead.
- Confirm the record is a County Clerk record, such as a marriage license, deed, will recording, mortgage, lien, or other recorded document.
- Use the online copy request form or contact the office with the document type, book and page number if known, parties involved, date, address, and any document-control details.
- Select certified copy if certification is needed and choose mail, email, or pickup as the delivery method.
- Choose a payment method and wait for any office follow-up, including a call for card information when credit card payment is selected.
- Expect the office to hold the document until payment is received, then receive the copy by the selected delivery route.

Recording Standards
The Henry County Clerk recording standards page states that the Kentucky County Clerks Association adopted Property Records Industry Association standards for real estate document formatting as of January 1, 2020. Standards include 20 lb paper, 8.5 x 11 preferred and 8.5 x 14 accepted, white paper, no watermarks, no staples or binding, one-sided printing only, no impression seals, and no colored highlight markers.
The standards also recommend the top 3 inches of the first page for recorder use, especially on the right side, and all other margins of 1 inch. Black ink is preferred, dark blue signatures are accepted, 10-point Times New Roman or equivalent is the typeface benchmark, and spacing is limited to 9 lines per inch maximum. These format rules explain why the Clerk warns against unreviewed online legal-document forms.
Open Records and DOC ALERT
The County Clerk has its own open-records policy page and request-to-inspect-public-records form. That route is separate from the Henry County Fiscal Court open-records custodian and separate from the Circuit Court Clerk court-file route. For County Clerk recordings, use the Clerk's eCCLIX search, public computers, copy request form, or in-person deed room. For Fiscal Court and county department records, the county open-records process uses the county's named custodian. For trial-court case files, use the Circuit Court Clerk.
The Clerk records page also promotes DOC ALERT, a free mortgage-and-deed fraud notification tool from Software Management LLC in partnership with the Henry County Clerk's Office. Registration requires a name and email. The tool sends an email alert when a mortgage or deed bearing the registrant's name or business name is recorded. DOC ALERT is a notification service, not a title search, legal review, or court-record lookup.
eRecording vendors named by the County Clerk include Indecomm, Hopdox, CSC, Simplifile, and ePN. The research file provides vendor contact information, but those vendor channels are for recording workflows and do not replace the County Clerk's role as the local recording office.
