Henry County Circuit Clerk

Kentucky uses a unified Court of Justice system, and Henry County trial-court records are managed through the Office of Circuit Court Clerk. The office is located at the Henry County Courthouse in New Castle and serves court users for Circuit Court, Family Court, District Court, and Business Court case records. In Henry County, that route points to the Office of Circuit Court Clerk when the case is local Circuit, Family, District, or Business Court. Henry County Court Case Records

The Circuit Court Clerk is the court-records office for multiple Henry County case tracks. Circuit Court is Kentucky's general-jurisdiction trial court and handles civil matters over $5,000, felonies, divorce, adoptions, real-property title disputes, contested probate matters, injunctions, writs, and appeals from District Court or administrative agencies. Family Court is a division of Circuit Court and handles divorce, custody, child support, domestic violence, dependency, adoption, and termination of parental rights matters. These case categories do not all have the same public-access rules. Juvenile, mental-health, domestic-violence-sensitive, adoption, sealed, and expunged records may be restricted or withheld from ordinary public inspection. A public docket entry or case existence notice also is not the same as a certified court-file copy. For case papers, orders, pleadings, criminal citations, dockets, video recordings, reports, evidence, or transcripts, use the Circuit Court Clerk route and be prepared to identify the court, party names, case number if known, date range, and document type.

Henry County Court Schedule

The KCOJ county page publishes a local schedule for Henry County proceedings. Circuit Civil matters are listed for the second Thursday and fourth Friday at 8:45 a.m. Circuit Criminal is listed for the second Thursday at 9 a.m. District Court is listed for Monday and Wednesday at 9 a.m. Family Court is listed for the first, second, and fourth Tuesday. Court settings can change, and the statewide docket page warns that docket information is not an official docket and is subject to change.

The quickest official route for a court-date check is the Kentucky Trial Court Docket search. Select Circuit or District, enter the date, choose courtroom or subdivision if needed, select Henry County, and submit. Use that system for scheduling information, then use the clerk's office for copies or file review.

Request Henry County Court Records

Henry County does not have a county-run trial-court case-search portal in the official county sources reviewed. The practical access chain is statewide docket lookup, KYeCourts or CourtNet where access is available, and then direct contact with the Office of Circuit Court Clerk for the actual case file. The clerk's office can tell a requester whether a file is available for public review, whether a case type is restricted, and whether an older file must be requested through a records facility.

1. Identify the case type and court. Felonies, divorce, adoptions, title disputes, contested probate, and larger civil cases are Circuit or Family Court matters. Traffic, misdemeanors, violations, probate of wills, small claims, juvenile, mental-health, and domestic-violence matters are District Court matters.
2. Check the Kentucky Trial Court Docket if the immediate need is a court date, courtroom, or docket setting for Henry County.
3. Use KYeCourts or CourtNet for online case lookup when guest or account access is available, recognizing that permissions may limit detail.
4. Contact the Office of Circuit Court Clerk for copies, certified copies, file review, availability, and local handling requirements.
5. If the case is stored off-site, ask the clerk for the case locator and file locator numbers before contacting the State Records Center or Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives.

The records guidance is useful because it prevents a common misroute: AOC, Fiscal Court, and the County Clerk do not replace the Circuit Court Clerk for Henry County trial-court files.

Certified Court Copy Steps

A certified copy is the clerk-authenticated version of a public court document. It may be needed when a user must prove a disposition, judgment, divorce decree, probate order, or other official action. Henry County Clerk Fees

Older Henry County Records

Older court files may not be immediately available in the local clerk's office. KCOJ says a case record may be in the court clerk's office, at a record facility, or destroyed under record-retention schedules depending on case type and age. If a public file is stored at a record facility, the court clerk identifies the facility and provides the case and file locator numbers. State Records Center requests require those locator numbers and cannot be searched by name or Social Security number.

The County Clerk records page is different. It covers deeds, mortgages, recorded wills, marriage-license copies, eRecording vendors, and DOC ALERT. Those tools may help a person locate recorded county documents, but they do not retrieve an old criminal, civil, traffic, family, or probate case file from the court clerk's storage route.

eCCLIX is useful for Henry County land records, but the court-record fallback for older court files remains the Circuit Court Clerk and any record facility identified by that office.

County Clerk vs Court Clerk

The Henry County Clerk records page states that the County Clerk does not prepare documents and recommends calling an attorney. It also says the office does not do genealogy searches and points genealogy questions toward the Henry County Historical Society. That same County Clerk office handles eRecording vendors, DOC ALERT, land records, recorded wills, marriage-license copies, and open-records requests for county clerk records. The Circuit Court Clerk, by comparison, handles the court case file and court copy route.

Use that county open-records route for County Clerk records, but use the Office of Circuit Court Clerk when the request concerns a court case, court docket entry, certified court order, or court-file review.

Driver Licensing Change

The courthouse history in the research file explains one local point of confusion. A KCOJ release about the 2021 return to the renovated Henry County Courthouse stated that Henry County residents would no longer obtain driver-license services from the Office of Circuit Court Clerk after the statewide shift to Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Driver Licensing Regional Offices. Court users may still contact the Circuit Court Clerk for traffic court records, court dates, proof filings, fines and costs, failure-to-appear entries, bond orders, or certified court copies. They should not expect the Circuit Court Clerk to issue a driver's license.

Those recording fees belong to the County Clerk side of Henry County records and should not be confused with court fines, court costs, or court-copy charges handled through the court system.
